A study done by Achmea, our insurance company showed that EPDM roofs were the best protection from extreme hail. EPDM stands for Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer. It is a type of synthetic rubber that is used in many applications. EDPM is 100% circular, it can be recycled into new EPDM, after protecting your roof for 50 years. So don’t glue it on the roof!:

1. Measure your roof and order the right size of EPDM membrane. You want to have 6cm of extra material on each side for trimming and folding.
2. Clean your roof and remove any debris, dirt, or old roofing materials. You want to have a smooth and flat surface for the EPDM membrane to lay on.
3. Unroll the EPDM membrane and let it relax for a few hours. This will help it conform to the shape of your roof and avoid wrinkles or bubbles.
4. Position the EPDM membrane on your roof and make sure it covers the entire area. You can use some bricks or weights to hold it in place temporarily.
5. Trim the excess material around the edges of your roof with a sharp knife or scissors. Leave about 6 inches of extra material on each side for folding over the edge.
6. Fold the extra material over the edge of your roof and secure it with nails or screws. You can also use a metal drip edge or flashing to cover the edge and protect it from water damage.
7. Seal any seams or joints in the EPDM membrane with a special EPDM seam tape or sealant. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for applying and curing the tape or sealant.
8. Enjoy your new EPDM roof.
